Welcome

Welcome to Our website. We specialize in mass-transfer research and process engineering.

The mass-transfer research group at UCT Prague continues on the work of american Professor George L. Standart, graduate of the California Institute of Technology who was invited to Prague in 1950’s and together with Professor Hanuš Steidl founded the Chemical engineering department at UCT Prague which started the developement of the chemical engineering in the former Czechoslovakia.

At the present days the research group activities focus on the basic research of the mass transfer between the liquid and gas/vapor phases and on the applied research of industrial-scale gas-liquid contactors – absorption and distillation columns, stirred aerated vessels (fermentors), ejectors and bubbled columns.

The present research continues/prosecutes in the works of the founders of the presently oriented research group (Václav Linek, Václav Vacek, Jiří Sinkule, Oldřich Holeček, Petr Beneš, František Hovorka and Tomáš Moucha). The high quality of the group research dokuments e.g. their two works, concerning fundamentals of mass transfer in stirred aerated vessels, which are the most citated works of our department now (250 and 179, respectively).
